Let’s face it: everyone loves cheesecake. If you don’t, we assume your taste buds are on strike. Cheesecake is the dessert equivalent of a mic drop — smooth, dramatic, and impossible to ignore. It’s what happens when cream cheese decides it’s too fabulous for bagels and starts living its best life. It’s sweet, it’s sassy, it has layers (emotionally and literally), and frankly, it’s the only thing holding society together at this point.

The earliest known cheesecake was made by the Greeks on the island of Samos, where simple ingredients like flour, wheat, honey, and cheese were used to create a rudimentary version of the dessert. In fact, cheesecake was served to athletes during the first Olympic Games in 776 B.C. as an energy-boosting snack!
